The question, who is the actual pioneer of Bengali humorous short stories, has immense doubts. Names arise of Rabindranath Tagore, Shibram Chakraborty, Rajsekhar Basu when the journey of short story in Bengali literature comes in front. But among them the most underrated name is Pramathanath Bisi a.k.a Pra.na.bi. and this essay takes up the task of cultivate his craftsmanship and mastery in our literature. At the same time the task of categorization of his works into three different genres—mythological, political and historical; will also be done. How modernization of mythology or depiction of reality through history or polity of our country, have been executed by him, will also be the subject matter in this essay. At the same time, comparisons of other contemporary Bengali short story writers will be drawn to point out the place, we can attribute him with.
