Abstract
Under the leadership of Charu Banerjee, the revolutionary activities of the Naxalite movement began and spread throughout Bengal. Not only did it bring about historical changes throughout Bengal, it also left scars in society, the impact which cannot be denied even today.
The influence of society inevitably comes into literature. These socio-political and character issues have repeatedly emerged in the hands of Bengali storytellers. Samaresh Basu, Asim Roy, Mahasweta Devi, and Amiyabhushan Majumdar have all written stories with the Naxalite movement as a backdrop. While discussing Amiyabhushan's stories, one can also find his thoughts and ideas about the Naxalite movement and the agitators. Some of Amiyabhushan's famous stories about Naxalism are Pairar Khop', 'Tantra Siddhi', 'Mrinmayee Opera' etc. In the fragmentary images that Amiyabhushan has presented in th e story, we find not only the fiery bloodshed of Bengali society, but also several images of oppression.
In the story 'Pairar Khop', we find the story of a family completely falling apart. Amiyabhushan has very clearly depicted that people from both sides of the Naxalite movement are part of this family and both sides are equally affected. Again, in the story of 'Tantrasiddhi', the need for bloodlust in humans is a primal instinct, and its result may be the Naxal movement. That is why the objective of both the pro and anti-protesters was to hand people over to death. It is as if people have become bloodthirsty, and their lust will be satisfied with the blood of others. In this way, Amiyabhushan viewed the Naxalite movement from different perspectives and embodied them in his stories and novels.
