Abstract

In the Bengali life of present-day India, the practice of folk music and folk philosophy is continuously declining. People do not give themselves any opportunity or time for introspection these days. However, the ancient spiritual sense of Bengali life is Baul philosophy. The self-identity of Bengalis is written in the folds of the life and songs of the Bauls. The spiritual sense that awakens through Baul songs takes the form of an echo of the waves of the ages in the heart and we can be free from the persecution of modern life. Contemporary emptiness can no longer hide itself. The futility of the life lived by modern educated people becomes apparent.

Currently, due to various environmental reasons, changes in social status, evolution of people's tastes and unnatural dominance of electronic media, the decline of a rich rural medium like Baul song, a branch of folk tradition, has become evident. Therefore, in the context of the recent situation in the novel ‘Moner Manush’, this article will try to make people aware of the history of Baul song and the tension of Lalon alias Lalu becoming Lalon Sai. In this, the aim of countless folk artists to sustain Baul folk songs through much sacrifice, love and hard work will be realized.
