Abstract

Humans are social creatures. Language is needed for communication and expression. Every country and nation has its own language. Like all countries and nations of the world, Bengalis also have their own language, its name is Bangla language. Through various changes, the ancient Bengali language gradually evolved and became modern. Panini's 'Astadhayi Grammar' has a glorious history of linguistics in our country. But the history of language learning in Bangladesh is not long. Darwin's theory of evolution appears to be as applicable to language as it is to animals. Ferdinand de Saussure gave early direction to linguistics. Later, Sunitikumar Chattopadhyay, Rabindranath, Sukumar Sen, Muhammad Shahidullah, Pareshchandra Majumder, Munir Chowdhury, Abdul Hai etc. practiced linguistics. Linguist Noam Chomsky showed that a generative grammar not only produces grammatical sentences, but also signals the possible syntax of the language. Today many people call the science of linguistics as 'grammar'. The discussion of why or not is descriptive. In ancient times, it was thought that grammar will tell how the language will be, according to the rules. Bengali language is thousands of years old, but grammar is very young. Many people think that the language has lost its fluency due to the difficulty of grammar. This idea is completely wrong. Raja Rammohan Roy was the first Bengali to write a grammar in the Bengali language. The two Bengali grammarians before him were foreigners (Asmumpsao and Halhead). The creation of Bengali grammar based on modern science has been made possible by the tireless work and efforts of many learned linguists and grammarians after Rammohan. And in the light of this, the structure of the Bengali language can be known with its true nature and form. Proverbs are one of the main elements of folk culture, which is a combination of aesthetic feelings and practical needs. It is small in stature but outstanding in terms of money. Although a little lighter and more incoherent than rhymes, its chubby language syntax appeals to our intellect and mind. No such person can be found,Who does not know at least two or four proverbs or apply them in conversation from time to time. Even if the meaning of the proverb is not explained to anyone, the proverb is used by millions of illiterate people of the country. Although Western scholars speak of six qualities of proverbs, it is not limited to these few qualities. So far reliable collections of Bengali proverbs have been published, the literary, social, psychological and even economic aspects of Bengali proverbs have been discussed, but the linguistic or grammatical aspects of Bengali proverbs have not been discussed in detail. There is scope for extensive discussion of this in the main article.
