Abstract
This paper explores feminism as a critical framework that identifies and challenges gender-based inequality. It argues that patriarchy serves as the foundational structure through which such inequalities are produced and sustained across social, familial, economic, and cultural spheres. The discussion begins by examining the concept of patriarchy, its mechanisms, manifestations, and historical roots in order to establish a necessary groundwork for understanding feminist thought. By analysing how patriarchal systems operate and perpetuate dominance, the paper highlights the importance of recognizing these structures as a prerequisite to engaging with feminist theory. Ultimately, the study demonstrates that feminism emerges as both a theoretical and political response, shaped through the critical interrogation and resistance of patriarchal power.
