Abstract

Throughout the ages, people have protested for justice and against injustice. The dictionary meaning of the word protest is objection. Standing up against socio-economic, political corruption, exploitation, oppression, and injustice is protest or resistance. Through this, rebellion or movement is organized. The opposing forces of society are defeated. Society is reformed. Society becomes healthy and beautiful. Socialized people become happy and comfortable. And the word 'rebellion' means refusing obedience or obedience, going against the rule or established customs. This protest or rebellion has been going on since ancient times. In a healthy, peace-loving, developed country, its tendency is less. Protest is seen in every system of government, be it monarchy, democracy, or dictatorship. This protest is born from inequality and inconsistency. Every person who worships truth and beauty wants to establish truth and beauty. When obstacles are created step by step in the establishment of truth and beauty, people protest against that obstacle and that is the beginning of rebellion. From that distant primitive society to this day, the strong have been oppressing the weak, whether they are men or women. If we step back a little from today's feminism and feminist thought movement, we will see that the poets' thoughts on women in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries were very brave and exceptional. Some of the female characters they created were truly protestors. At that time, they were supposed to be trapped in illiteracy and superstition, but they protested in some places despite various adversities. They sometimes lost but did not give up. Although in today's context, that protest may be completely right for some, no social movement or its impact fell widely on society, it fell a little later after the advent of Chaitanya. Due to the awakening that took place in society, the women were enlightened in the light of education, although a little. Those education leaders were able to give literacy to the girls of aristocratic families like the Tagore family. Of course, that was a much later story.
