Abstract

According to Motaher Hossain Chowdhury (1903–1956) the practice of art, literature and culture serves as a pathway to inner awakening, moral refinement and individual liberation. He argues that literature and art cultivate human emotions and contribute to the development of humanity by enabling individuals to experience love, beauty and joy. The objective of this study is to analyze the concept of liberation through the practice of art and literature based on a close reading of Motaher Hossain Chowdhury’s essay Sanskriti Katha. The central research question is: How can cultural practice contribute to human development? This study explores how art and literature foster humanity, empathy and an environment conducive to both personal and social liberation.
