Abstract

Kathakar Afsar Ahmed appeared in our literary world in 8th decade of the 20th century. Besides writing novels he gained fame for writing short stories. Muslim society and culture are mentioned in most of his literature. He throughly analysed the small issues that happened between the people of different levels of society. Basically we get the pictures of women's neglect and deprivation in his short stories, but in many stories women are also seen as protestors. Above all women sometimes miss their husbands, Sometimes rivals wife and sometimes men's lustful gaze in patriarchal society etc. occupies majority of the space in the short stories written by Afsar Ahmed, Basically there is an extensive discussion of stories like Janosrot, jalosrot, Adim, Gunah etc. The main theme of this essay is too highlight the images of existential crisis of women in the said stories.
