Abstract

There are several genres of modern Bengali poetry. One of these genres is eco poetry. The genre is a recent and very popular contemporary genre in the world of Bengali poetry. Eco poetry establishes a link between literature and sensual nature in general. The main theme of Eco poetry is a deep interrelationship between nature and man and man and nature, which is built with respect, love, compassion, humanity, intimacy. Eco poetry carries the message of protecting the environment. Ecocriticism and eco-poetry are literary genres that are inextricably linked. The term ecocriticism was first used by writer William Rueckert, in his 'Literary and ecology : an experiment in the ecocriticism! in the essay. Cheryll Glotfelty (Cheryl Glotfelty) in her Eco-critic Reader The Landmark in Literary Ecology' book defines ecocriticism as- "Eco critic Reader is the study of relationship between literature and the physical environment." Eco-poetry is the result of mutual interaction of literature with nature, environment, animals, birds, people. Although nature is at the center of this poem, the purpose of the poems is not to show the beauty of nature, but to rescue nature from danger.

Eco poetry is environmentalist literary theory. The presence of environment can be observed in every branch of world literature, Indian literature and above all Bengali literature. The creation of the naturalistic works of Bengali literature is the original form of the Bengali language during the era of Charyapa creation. In the modern era, this environmentalist literature writing trend is much more. In every genre of Bengali literature, the practice of environmentalist or nature-dharmic writing is going on in short stories, novels, poems, essays. In the real life of man and in the field of literature, nature is situated in such a place that no composition is possible without it.Various aspects of nature and environment have come up in the writings of many poets of the present generation in poetry. Jeebananda Das's 'banglar mukh ami dekhiyachi' Sukanta Bhattacharya's 'Agaami' Shakti Chatterjee's 'Ami Dekhi' Amiyo Chakraborty's 'Gach' Sunil Gangopadhyay's 'Chhayar Janno'. In the poems, the environmental thought has emerged. However, to review the subject of eco-poetry, we have selected Sunil Gangopadhyay's 'Chhayar Janno' in this case.

In Alom poetry, Sunil Gangopadhyay's environmental thinking has been expressed so flawlessly, he has found such novelty in the skill of choosing the subject of language and rhetoric that he will be unforgettable to the reader in the world of Bengali eco-poetry and the entire Bengali poetry.
