Abstract

Socially, women have been included in the second class since the dawn of civilization. Women have struggled with many obstacles and adversities and have repeatedly sought to advance. But women did not get the ultimate success. He still hasn’t made it to the first grade. Rather, she had to struggle for his own existence is still doing so. A terrible disease of present civilization is the degradation of women. Whether indoors or outdoors, women are endangered everywhere. Women are faced with existential crisis in the professional field as well. By abusing women, the current capitalist world is expanding at a terrible rate. Literature talks about the country and time, so such problems of the society have blossomed in the writing style of the writer.

            Subrata Mukhopadhyay has highlighted this endangered society in his novel. By depicting the real society through artistic entities, the scars that lie behind the society. In his novel ‘Rasik’ (1991), he wrote of the lives of the ‘Nachni’ (Dancing girl) behind the lauded art in the Rasik society. The plight of women engaged in the dancing profession is depicted in perfect with reality. Nachni decked out in various costumes and ornaments entertain the audience by expressing love and lust through dance-songs with Rasiks. Nachni is the main means of making money for a Rasik. They spend their lives doing manual labour day and night in Rasik’s house only to meet the needs of sustenance. Nachni does not get a fair price for their labour and are subjected to humiliation, harassment abuse. In the of Rasik’s novel, the work of dancing profession, remuneration and the life depicts of the women who are close to this profession, etc, have been shown to portray the threatened status and existential crisis of the dancers.
