Abstract

First of all let me say that my research paper deals with Bandna/ Sanharai, one of the agro-cultures of Kudmi community. In this research paper, the names of all the cultures with which the Kudmi community are closely related are mentioned first in brief form. Then Bandna festival is mentioned as one of the agro-cultures of Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa especially Chbotanagpur Plateau. Then the nomenclature of Bandna/Sanharai is discussed. Then it has been discussed that Bandna festival is widespread in some regions. Then when and how Bandna festival or Sanharai festival is celebrated is discussed in detail. Teldeoa, Ghaua, Amabasya, Goroiya, Baladkhunta are discussed in turn. Some Ahira songs are also mentioned. The significance of this episode is also discussed.
