Abstract

One of the most eminent Writer in Bengali literature is Hassan Azizul Haque. He was born in 1939 at Jabagram in Burdwan district on the time of 2nd world war. Bengal partition was happened in 1947. After 7 Year’s, in 1954, Azizul went to Bangladesh (erstwhile East Pakistan) for studying. He as well as his family had to gone to East Pakistan permanently as a result of partition. They were treated as refugees at that time. In his whole life, the trauma of partition and uprootedness came again and again in his memory as well as literature. Haque, in his short story, implemented various types of life's crisis. His three important stories are ‘Sakun’ (vulture), ‘Atmaja o ekti karabi gach’ (Daughter and an oleander flower), ‘Uttar Basante’ (In post Autumn) where he describes crisis of the life from different angel.

        ‘Sakun’ is a symbolic story. By using this symbol, writer shows us the relation between exployter and exployted and the decadence form of the society. ‘Atmaja o ekti karabi gach’ is a diasporic story. A mass of ordinary people who were deprived by the partition, among them there were an old father who used her beloved daughter for some rupees. ‘Uttar Basante’ is an almost theme like ‘Atmaja’. Lipi and Kabir loved each other but partition divided them. Kabir went to East Pakistan where Lipi became a mental patient and then she died. After her demise, Hassan shows us, how her whole family survived in a critical situation. In this essay I am going to show Hassan's literary work analytically and meticulously.
