Abstract

‘Communism is one of the ways to build a orderly society. Three selected novels are used to understand the dynamic nature of communism. Tarashankar Bandopadhayay’s (1898-1971) ‘Manwantar’ (1943), Balaichand Mukhopadhayay’s (1899-1979) ‘Agni’ (1946) and Asim Roy's (1927-1986) ‘Asanglagnakavya’ (1973)- are the three novels used.  Kanai is the charecter of ‘Manwantar’ novel. The novel traces his changed nature. There I saw, girls like Neela working day and night with the communists but it was not accepted by the common people. So the question arises, they are familiar with the communists spirit of equality and could not be united? The novel explores this answer.  In the novel ‘Agni’, communist Neehar’s wife Antara feels that the children of the country have chosen the path of communism only for fashion. She has faith in communism, but that faith is lost in Antara as the communist strugglers could not overcome nature. She is angry with her husband Neehar's behavior. Communism has created an oscillating state in his mind. She sought to unravel the mystery of communism by introspection. The ideological conflict of the communists is captured in the ‘Asanglagnakavya’. Aruni, Upamanya believes in Chinese Communist Mao Tse Tung’s (1893-1976) seizure of state power by armed means. On the other hand, Surya Banerjee wanted to create a ‘chorus’ through communism. Surya Banerjee wants a ‘guide to action’. Selected Bengali novels record the thoughts of common people and communists about communism and communist party. Everyone is a social novelist. Their views are unique. But all three envisioned a communist orderly society. Their dream and dream-breaking behavior is the subject of our discussion.
