Abstract

The life of the muslim women is compressed¹ and complicated² under the pressure of social resolution³ of the orthodox muslims. The women are blamed in a patriarchal muslim society. The male dominated society accepted the women as child production machine. The women are not free as much as man in muslim society. The Sharia law⁴ has been introduced in Arabia fourteen hundred years ago and its misinterpretations are continuing and unchanged into the twenty-first century. Women are therefore subjected to various repressions⁵ in the muslim society. The living examples are the multiple marriages, divorce, child marriage, dowry system etc. Abul Fazal’s ‘Chowchir’ and Begum Rokeya’s ‘Padmarag’ novels are the image of the awakening of Muslim women with the enlightenment of modern education.
