Abstract

The fame of Gambhira songs, an approximately one and a half hundred years old traditional song of Maldah district, has spread from the country to abroad as well. Although Shibotsava begins auspiciously in Chaitrasankranti, this solemn song can be seen in some places in the months of Baisakh, Jaishtha and even Ashad. What is the present form of the Gambhira songs that pre-independence protested against the British, in which there was an overall form through the Tantric ritual trial?
