Abstract

Michael Madhusudan Dutta is a memorable figure who created a revolution in Bengali consciousness in the 19th century. His life is not the life of an ordinary person.  Like the hero of the epic, his life has many variations, many ups and downs and complex conflicts. Michael Madhusudan Dutta, one of the pioneers of the 19th century renaissance in whole Bengal, is one of those people whose life becomes a yardstick for determining the direction of a country's socio-culture-history-tradition. Such people become heroes of the times. Attempts to write novels centered on such a hero can be seen more or less in the literature of almost all languages. Bengali language is no exception. A beautiful example of this can be seen in Samiran Das's epic novel 'Madhumoy Tamaras'.

         We see that Bengali worthwhile novels started to be written from the 19th century, but in the latter half of the 20th century, the writing of novels based on Bengali personal life began.  In the 21st century came the tide in the literary works of this genre.  At this time, Samiran Das wrote 'Madhumoy Tamaras' based on the life story of Michael Madhusudan, a revolutionary figure in Bengali poetic literature.  From Madhusudan's birth on 25th January 1824 AD to his death on 29th June 1873 AD, almost all the events of Kishore Madhusudan's life from his admission in Hindu College to his burial after his death are described in this large novel.  That is, the novel is based on the life of Madhusudan.  But even if Michael's life is at the root of the novel, whether the novel can be called a novel based on personal life, we will judge with logic in this research article.  Besides, it will be seen why the novelist wrote such a novel in the present time and the relevance of the novel in the present time will also be analyzed.
