Abstract

Sri Haridas Das Babaji was a great Vaisnava scholar of Bengali language and literature. He was a specialist researcher and writer on Vaishnava literature and religion. As he has researched various aspects of Vaishnavism from the advent of Chaitanya to the later 400 years, he established himself as a special supporting force in the development of Vaishnavism. The appearance of Sri Chaitanya in the second half of the fifteenth century marked the beginning of a significant chapter in the history of Bengal and India. As a result of his efforts, Gaudiya Vaishnavism of Bengal became one of the reformist religions of India. As a result, hundreds of branches emerged and developed in the field of Bengali literature and poetry. Sri Haridas Das Babaji was prominent among the scholars who emerged to define the field of development and expansion of Vaishnavas, the religion established by Chaitanya. Through his life and literary works, he has been able to present Vaishnavism in a new form to the people. He was a great Vaishnava saint and preacher. He was able to established the Vaishnavism mainly through his writings.The most notable product of his research was the compilation of the Gaudiya Vaishnava Dictionary. His real name was Harendra Nath Chakraborty. In later life his name was Shri Haridas Das Babaji. I, in my research paper have tried to give a brief discussion about the literary work and life philosophy of the almost forgotten Sri Haridas Das Babaji.
