Abstract

Although Bhagirath Mishra entered the world of bangla kotha sahitya by writting short stories but his novels made him popular. He is a writer of 20th century, the picture of subaltern life has come in his novels, folk beliefs, folk songs, folk dance, folk festivals, folk myth appeared in his writtings. His novels included as regional novels also, there are images of rural people based on agriculture in his novels. water and soil are the main elements of Bhagirath Mishras katha sahitya.Bhagirath Mishra has a postgradute degree in geography and has more than a hundred published short stories have won him the certificate of Honour(1993)presented by Madhuparni a distinguished magazine.He received the ‘’Sopan Award” for the “Lebaron Badyikor” compelling stories,he awarded the “Samaresh Basu” award for “Aarkathi” novel.He received the award “Yajan” for “Charon Bhumi” novel.His novels are Antorgoto Neelsrot, Toskor, Aarkathi, Charonbhumi, Janguru, Mrigoya, Shikorer Ghran, Faasbodol, Sikolnama. His stories are Kakchoritra, Chikon Babu, Midfielder, Batasiromon, Vikhu Majhi.
