Abstract

Govinda das was a linguistic genius of the Middle Ages. Verses written about Radha Krishna Leela are rare in Bengali literature. Although he is a Medieval Vaishnava poet, he is modern in his thinking. His achievements as a poet are quite commendable. Govinda das developed his genius level by level, for which he deserves considerable praise in the Padavali literature of the Middle Ages. We can see the theory and deep knowledge of Vaishnava philosophy in his verses. At first glance it may seem that only Radha Krishna's theory is expressed in its terms, but if we carefully observe the paths, we can see the shadow of life reflected in it. Chaitanyadev came to give a different dimension to Padavali literature, we can divide Padavali literature into two parts. As predecessors of Chaitanya we identify Vidyapati and Chandidas, whose poetic talent is quite admirable. But when Chaitanya came, a new trend was created in Bengali literature. But the name of Govinda Das will be remembered as Chaitanya's successor. Govinda Das was a devotee on the one hand and a poet on the other hand, and his poems, combining these two genres, deserve considerable prestige. Vaishnava terms were composed in Medieval times but his literary ideas are quite relevant in modern times. A combination of contemporary consciousness and modern consciousness developed in capturing the message of Vaishnava poets. Govinda Das was born after Chaitanya Dev's death so he expressed his regret in many terms that he did not see Chaitanya Dev with his own eyes. Govinda das composed the verses in harmony with the Gaudiya Vaishnava philosophy, so his poetic talent blossomed in his own characteristics, his poems are like a mine of nectar. If judged from an external point of view, apparent complexity and use of complicated words can be seen in his verses, therefore his verses must be judged with a deep mind. Compared to other Padaktaras after Chaitanya, he is quite modern and the most famous poet in his era. He was a poet of beauty. Among the verses expressed in a deep sense, not only in Radha Krishna Leela, but also in modern human consciousness. That is why he is modern and relevant today. Even though his mind was formed in a Medieval way, here is the significance of Govinda Das.
