Abstract

The history of Barak Valley is extensive in Bengali literature. Barak Valley is constituted by three districts namely Cachar (Silchar), Hailakandi and Karimganj. It is observed that the main stream Bengali literature are different from the literature of North-Eastern region or Barak Valley literature due to the Socio-economic, Political and Geographical differences. Looking back at the history, it seen that the literary practice of Barak Valley introduced in 1957 with the magazine 'Sambhar'. Later the magazine did not expand as much. After that, Barak's story was enriched in the world by sheltering magazines like 'Anish', 'Shatkratu', 'Sahityater Navaparjaya', 'Udark', 'Unmochan', 'Swapneel', etc. Barak's literature was not only published in newspapers, it also published in many little magazines such as 'Angikar', 'Sapath', 'Belabhoomi', 'Amader Somoykal', 'Khelaghar'.  In this essay I have discussed the story namely 'Akti Mrityu and tarpor' by Shyamalendu Chakraborty, 'Manush' by Badruzzaman Choudhury and 'Ettarbanu and Mass Media' by Krishna Misra Bhattacharya.  The story 'Akti Mrityu and tarpor' revolves around a dying person. Similarly, in the story 'Manush', the starving exploited people protest against the exploiting class and in the story 'Ettarbanu and Mass Media', the story of the rape of a raped girl was aired in the media, but no women's organization came to her rescue. Ettarbanu has represented us in the women's society. I have discussed this story in detail in the full paper.
