Abstract

Krishna Basu is one of the great poets of Bengali literature. She was born in Chandannagar (Hooghly district), in 1947. She was a Professor by profession. Her first ‘Book of Poetry’ 'Shabder Sharir', was published by 'National Publishers' in 1976. Then the Poetry books that were published one by one; Important among which are: ‘jaler Saarolye’, ‘Jal Batase andhokare’, ‘Samasta meyeder hoye’, ‘Parijayi Pakhider dana’. But ‘Raktakto Hridayer Gaan’ is one of the best ‘Poetry books’ she has written.

Krishna Basu has managed to convey a strong protest in a simple tone in Bengali poetry. The dimensions and signs of women’s oppression that were still present in the seventies began to be shown again. What Poet Kabita Singha had shown, Krishna continued to show more fully, strongly and clearly. With protest, Krishna Basu wanted to find a woman’s own world, her own individuality. Her poetry is also mainly associated with ‘feminist Ideology’. In a simple tone, the poet spoke out against the daily disrespect that women face, from the home to the workplace. The Poet repeatedly tried to break the ‘Stereotype of Masculinity’ in her Poetry.

In the poem, Krishna Basu talks about the overthrow of Patriarchy, which reaches people from all walks of life. Her poetry, which is a blend of compassion and intense sensitivity, makes the reader responsible. The reader becomes aware, the reader becomes protesting. Her poems deal with issues of motherhood, marital rape, and all kinds of humiliations against women. Krishna Basu's poetry is also notable for its use of myth, which he recreates in his poetry. Literary women of the past, such as ‘Manasa’, ‘Sita’, ‘Behula’, ‘Radhika’ and ‘Draupadi’, have found a permanent place in her writings. Although She is aware of Nature and the Environment, the focus of her writing is primarily on People, Human Society, and Human Relationships. Humanism is the main element of her Poetry. Krishna Basu is a sensitive Poet who made her poetry a captivating narrative of women's struggles.
