Utpal Dutt (1929-1993) is an unforgettable personality in the Bengali theater world, whose plays exhibit a remarkable fusion of history and politics. This essay provides a detailed analysis of Utpal Dutt's dramatic works, highlighting his Marxist philosophy, the influence of the People's Theater Movement, and the reflection of anti-colonial struggles. Dutt's plays, such as 'Kallol', 'Barricade', 'Tin er Talwar', 'Mahabidroho' and others, present historical events in a political context, propagating messages of exploitation, revolution, and class struggle. His dramatic works reflect the political instability of post-independence India, anti-fascism, and socialist aspirations, which are conveyed to the general public through Brechtian dramatic theory and jatra-street plays. This essay examines Dutt's biography, dramatic thought, analysis of major plays, and evaluates his contributions, revealing his unforgettable role in the history of Bengali drama.
