Abstract
The journal 'Bharat-Mahila' was issued under the direction of Sarajubala Dutta from the month of Bhadra in 1312. It was a monthly periodical and run from 1312 to 1324. In that magazine, I wrote about the creations and lives of some famous foreign personalities who gave their entire lives for the society. During their social reform work, they encountered many difficulties and challenges, but even then, they did not give up their mission of social reform.
Miss Manning, as a member of the “National Indian-Association”, was instrumental in many ways. She was the one who initiated the setup of schools for Indian girls, and along with this, she pioneered a fair salary system for women teachers in those schools. Besides, she was actively involved in a number of other social initiatives. Though Josephine did not engage in social work directly, her loving nature made the people love and respect her. She was a powerful and nice companion to her husband, Napoleon. Even when he left her, she remained faithful and did not turn her back on him.
After a successful career as a newspaper editor, William Stead decided to dedicate his whole life to the dignity of women. He was fearless, courageous, and selfless in his social reform work. Despite the great success he attained, he stayed humble and always thought of himself as a simple man.
By presenting the lives and contributions of these inspiring individuals, the editor of ‘Bharat-Mahila’ wanted to encourage everyone—both women and men—to come forward and take part in social improvement. She believed that meaningful change is possible only when people work together with unity and determination.
