The Spirit of the Liberation War in Humayun Ahmed’s novel (হুমায়ূন আহমেদের উপন্যাসে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চেতনা)

Abstract

As the glorious liberation war of Bangladesh which took place in 1971, has established the entire Bengalis as an independent and sovereign nation on the world map, it also influenced the art, literature and culture of Bangladesh. Just as the glorious motivation and bright spirit of the liberation war had a deep influence on the creative consciousness, mind and spirit of our writers in the post-independence period, it also widened the horizons of their intellect, understanding, knowledge, experience, expectations and dreams. However, in comparison, our novelist have been more able to create the inevitable art form of the liberation war in the elaborate art of the novel than in poetry-drama-short story-music-essay or other branches of literature. Although the number of novels written in the background of Bangladesh's liberation war is abundant, in most of the novels, the identity of the novelists' real experience and experience and the chemical synthesis of the sense of life is negligible. However, the sensitivities with deep life outlook and positive life consciousness and the depth of social observation, time-bound and timeless, have made the novels of the writer into incomparable and distinctive works of art, among those whose name is uniquely significant, whose novelworld is bright with promise, is Humayun Ahmed (1948-2012). His 'Shyamal Chhaya' (1973), 'Nirbashan' (1974), 'Saurav' (1984), 'Surjer Din' (1985), '1971' (1986), 'Aguner Parashmani' (1985), 'Anil Bagchir Ekdin' (1992), 'Jochona O Jananir Golpo' (2004) etc, The brilliant application of the multi-dimensional aspects of the Great Liberation War of Bangladesh is also noteworthy in the language and presentation style used by him in the gospels. The all-consuming horrors, cries, heartbroken bloodshed, uncertain futures and fears of the Bengali nation during the War of Independence And just as he has painted the picture of terror with extraordinary artistic skill, he has brought to the fore the boundless heroic stories of the golden-born freedom fighters of Bengal, amazing courage and pure patriotism, and the vicious barbarism of the Pakistani invaders and bandits and their domestic allies Razakars, Al-Badr and Alshams, women torture, rape, plunder, hellish glee and their cruelty. The nature and characteristics of the great blood-soaked Liberation War of Bangladesh, which took place in 1971, are reflected in the above novels of writer Humayun Ahmed, and the drawing of its form and transformation is the subject of the present research-article.
