HARMONY IN NAJRUL SANGEET (নজরুল সঙ্গীতে সম্প্রীতি)

Abstract

Kazi Nazrul Islam has always transcended religion, caste, community and sung the praises of humanity. He sought the establishment of human religion out of all kinds of religious and caste dogmatism. He understood that there is an urgent need to establish friendly relations among all people of all races. According to him, all people are children of one universal father. There can be no such thing as discrimination of caste and religion. Therefore, he wanted to stimulate the sense of humanity by removing all kinds of superstitions from the chest of the society. He did not limit the patriotic songs only to the struggle spirit, but gave the form of class-conscious communist songs or mass music against communalism and feudalism. There are some special features in the songs composed by Nazrul. For example, the example of caste division, Hindu & Muslim unity, the victory song of humanity, women's rights, the dream of a non-communal united state, national unity, the unity of the people of the world forgetting caste, religion and caste. In his songs, Muslim ideals are on the one hand, and on the other hand, there is a strong sympathy for Hindu religion and culture. Even if the entire history of world literature and music is searched, there is room for doubt whether a humanitarian poet of harmony like Nazrul Islam can be found. There is no musician in the world of Bengali music who has at the same time composed many devotional songs for Hindu deities and on the other hand created Islamic songs for Muslims and hovered at the peak of popularity in both. Islam is a religion of peace. Nazrul wanted to establish equality in the world through the observance of this religion. In this song 'Ebar Navin Mantre Hobe Janani Tor Udwodhan', Nazrul has created a wonderful combination of devotionalism and communism. The song envisions a great India where there will be no untouchability and caste justice. Actually, Nazrul Islam did not compose lyrics for songs, but for knowledge, wanted to convey the message of peace, friendship and harmony through music. Therefore, there is no other way to get rid of the net of communal differences that exist in the world except by practicing Nazrul, the poet of harmony.
