Dhaneswar Roy was born on 28th October 1934 in Alipurduar distric of West Bengal and death on 22nd May 2021. He is an eminent exponent of popular folk song Bhawaiya of Rajbanshi Community’s of North Bengal. He has written more than 1000 of song in different categories in Rajbanshi and Bengali languages. Some of the song is become most popular in entire West Bengal, Lower Assam, and Rangpur region in Bangladesh. He has received various awards including Banga Ratno in 2015, Abbasuddin Award in 1997, Thakur Panchanan Barma Award in 2005, Lalon Award etc. His song “O baidesha bandhu re” is a most popular song in North Bengal. And also “Oki o omor garial firia re aiso a heart touching song in Bhawaiya song. I have tried to discuss his life history and meaning and literary values of his two selected songs.
