IMPACT, POETRY, NOVEL, SEISHOB SHEYALERA, SANJHBATIR RUPKATHARA,

If we look at the prose written by authors who are famously known as poets, we will notice that their novels are directly or indirectly impacted by poetic essence. Here, I have discussed three novels by the eminent poet Joy Goswami. In these novels, there is plenty of evidence to support the fact that when a poet writes a piece of prose (here novel), there will be a poetic impact. It is somehow inevitable. These impacts can be found in the form of words, and sentences & sometimes also affect the syntax.

In the first novel, ‘Seishob Sheyalera’ we can see a character named Rajat Sen, who is a professor by profession. This character has very unique characteristics, he is silent, and always looks sad because deep down inside he is a sad person for many reasons. His presence in the poem always brings a vibe of loneliness and gloom. The poet draws this character as a form of an idea that can be related to poetry.

The next novel is ‘Sanjhbatir Rupkathara’. In this novel, Joy Goswami created a fantastic lyrical ambiance through his prose. It is more like a poem than a novel. His selection of words and drawings of the characters are literally poetic.

The last novel is ‘Pretpurush’. The theme of this novel is really interesting. It says the primitive desire of humankind. The desire of leaving a mark in this world through his child. The narrator, who is anonymous, narrates his life, his pain, and his unfulfilled desire. Joy Goswami describes his desires in a very poetic manner. His usage of words, syntax, and formation of sentences are extremely poetic. If we go through his poem’s we will observe a huge similarity between his poems & literature.

Through my work, I have tried my best to show how his inner poet makes a prominent mark on his novels. Sometimes it’s so obvious that anyone can comprehend and sometimes it’s so subdued that one needs to dive deep into his writings to understand the same.
